PK People Elsewhere: Books, Podcasts and More!

The pleasure merchantA round-up of what the Pornokitsch team are doing when they're not toiling away at the blog-mines:

New books!

Molly's The Pleasure Merchant is coming out soon:

Apprentice wig-maker Tom Dawne’s dream is to complete his training, marry his master’s daughter, and set up a shop of his own. Unfortunately for him, when one of his greatest creations is used to play a cruel prank on a powerful gentleman, Tom is dismissed—and forced by fear of poverty and the need to clear his name to serve the very man whom he suspects set him up....

The ebook is available for pre-order through Amazon!

And you can now get Vermilion as an audio book! (For more about The Pleasure Merchant, check out Molly's long-running Pygmalia series, and, of course, this post...)

Bex, Jared and Anne (plus our friend and guest, John Johnston) all contributed to 1001 TV Shows You Must Watch Before You Die (US / UK). We're now the official experts on a wide variety of shows, including Gossip Girl (Jared), Kojak (John), The Good Wife (Bex) and Once Upon a Time (Anne).

Tim Weaver's MISSING, a podcast that Jared's been (not so) quietly involved in, has been shortlisted for a FutureBook award. If you've not tried the series - in which the best-selling crime author investigates whether or not someone can actually disappear - the first 7 episodes are online. (Hint: 1 and 6 are both really good starting points.)

Mahvesh hosts Angela Slatter, K.J. Parker and Kameron Hurley on Midnight in Karachi.

Bex, Jon and Jared address classic X-Men and Red One on recent One Comic episodes.

Other stuff!

Mahvesh reviews Judy Blume's In the Unlikely Event for Dawn and Aliette de Bodard's The House of Shattered Wings for Strange Horizons.

Becky will be doing a Q&A for the SF Book Club on Reddit, 28 October. Details here.

And there's a read along of The Long Way hosted by Over the Effing Rainbow through November. Details here.

Molly is interviewed by, uh, H.P. Lovecraft.

Becky is interviewed by StarShipSofa.

Future Lovecraft - with contributions from both Jesse and Molly - reviewed!

Kuzhali's glorious "Six Things I Found During the Autopsy" has been reprinted in Apex, alongside stories by Liu Cixin and Tade Thompson.

A blast from the past - a review of Bex's apocalyptastic Kill or Cure. (Sort of... Furiosa meets post-apocalyptic pirates. Terrific fun.)

And, finally - Hodderscape quiz - how well do you know your horror movie tag-lines?
